Northshoremen Chorus offer Singing Valentines

The Salem News

---- — BEVERLY — Barbershop quartets from the Northshoremen Chorus will once again be crooning to sweethearts in local offices, homes and schools as part of their Valentine’s Day fundraiser.

The group offers Singing Valentines, surprising recipients with two love songs, a long-stemmed rose, a card, and a photo of the event.

“This is one of the warmest and most rewarding days we have as a chorus,” said Jack Dowd of Salem, who is in charge of logistics and scheduling for the day-long event.

“The looks on the faces of those who receive these valentines are priceless. They are so touched that the person they love would send them a Singing Valentine, and more often than not the tissues come out. It’s a joy to take part in this.”

The Singing Valentines help fund the nonprofit Northshoremen, who put on shows at area assisted living facilities and nursing homes throughout the year, and appear at concerts and a cappella nights at no charge to help local high schools fund their music programs.
