YMCA fires workers after child left unattended

MARBLEHEAD — Two employees were fired after leaving a 10-month-old baby unattended yesterday at the Lynch/Van Otterloo YMCA.

A Lynn mother said she dropped her baby off before working out and came back more than an hour later to find a dark and empty child care area. She said she found her child asleep in a crib, according to Salem police.

The YMCA said the child was unsupervised for "2-5 minutes."

The YMCA did not release the names of the terminated employees.
