A UPS driver reported finding a dead body between a fence and a walkway at a Marsh Avenue address at 2:25 p.m. Officer Dave Costa said the body belonged to a 66-year-old man who had been seen in the neighborhood earlier in the day. No signs of foul play were found inside or outside the residence, he said. State police and the state medical examiner’s office are investigating.

Police received a 7:49 p.m. report that somebody had shot a BB through a front window at 354 Rantoul St.

A woman whom police found sitting in the middle of Herrick Street in the rain agreed to go back into Beverly Hospital for treatment, according to an 8:27 p.m. report.

A 12:08 p.m. report of animal abuse at 58 Cabot St. resulted in the arrest of @text1_Bullet:Anthony Geyer@text1_Bullet:, 21, of 8 Roundy St., Beverly, on a charge of cruelty to an animal. Officer Dave Costa said Geyer’s mother reported that he had killed her 6-month-old cat and that one witness told police she had seen Geyer “dragging the cat through the snow by a collar” the night before. Another witness called police when Geyer came to her door holding the dead cat and said it was “not purring right.” Investigating officers determined that the cat had a large amount of food stuffed into its mouth and that Geyer had scratches consistent with claw marks on his hands when he was arrested, although Geyer said they were sustained during a fistfight, Costa said.

Police responded to a 2:26 p.m. report that a resident was bothering his neighbors at 20 Sohier Road and found a man sitting on a microwave in a common hall, playing guitar. “He was advised that he was bothering other residents and to play his guitar in his apartment,” an officer wrote. “He stated that he was within his rights to make music. I agreed with him but stated that this common hallway is shared by all. He went back into his apartment.”
