---- — BOSTON — Undercover transit police arrested a Beverly man on a solicitation charge at the Chinatown MBTA station on Tuesday evening, according to a department blog.

Handell Liburd, 33, was arrested on a charge of solicitation of sexual conduct for a fee.

Police say Liburd sat down on a bench next to a plainsclothes police officer on the station’s northbound platform around 6 p.m. and initiated a conversation that turned to the “topic of making money.”

Liburd allegedly then offered the female officer $40 to perform a sexual act on him. He was arrested shortly thereafter.

Liburd was transported to transit police headquarters for the booking process and was expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court yesterday.
