Tuesday

A woman was transported to Salem Hospital with neck and back injuries after police and the Fire Department responded to a 4:05 p.m. report of an accident at Jefferson Avenue and Read Street. Police determined that the accident occurred when a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Adam Darmody of Salem began to take a right onto Jefferson Avenue and struck a 2001 Ford Focus driven by Jill Savage of Peabody that had been traveling outbound. Darmody was issued a citation for failure to yield, Savage was hospitalized and both vehicles were towed.

An officer responded to a 5:02 p.m. report of a possibly sick skunk on Calumet Street. “Animal went back into the woods,” police wrote.

A 5:15 p.m. report of a fight brought police to Market Basket at 227 Highland Ave., where they determined “various insults were exchanged” between two women but that it had only been a verbal dispute.

Police took a man into protective custody after a 5:42 p.m. report that a drunken man was refusing to leave the central fire headquarters at 48 Lafayette St.

Police received an 8:07 p.m. report that a loose pit bull had bitten a man on his shin at 4 First St. An officer encountered the animal, and it began growling at him; the officer advised the animal’s owner that it needed to be leashed at all times, according to the log.

A 9:13 p.m. report of an undesirable at 17 Barton St. resulted in the arrest of Albert Figueroa, 49, of 33 East Road, Atkinson, N.H., on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

Wednesday

Police received a 2 p.m. report that loud music was coming from boats docked at Pickering Wharf.

Tuesday

Police responded to a 3:47 p.m. report of shoplifting at J.C. Penney at the Northshore Mall and arrested Nashaly Santana, 19, of 30 Caldwell Crescent, Lynn, and Elsa Hernendez, 17, of 12 Pope St., Apt. 109, Lynn, each on a charge of shoplifting.
