Woman struck, killed in Beverly train accident

BEVERLY —

A woman was fatally struck by an MBTA train this morning in the Prides Crossing area of Beverly.

The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m., according to MBTA transit police.

"Multiple transit police units responded along with Beverly Police, Fire and EMS," the MBTA said. "... A white female, age unknown, was trespassing on the right of way in the area of South Thissel Street crossing and was struck by an MBTA commuter rail train. The female has been pronounced deceased."

Delays are expected on all Newburyport/Rockport line commuter trains and the MBTA is using buses to shuttle riders this morning.

Transit police and the Essex County District Attorney's Office are investigating incident.
