---- — PEABODY — Brother Thomas Zoppo has been named the new principal of Bishop Fenwick High School. He is a member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
Zoppo, a native of the Boston area, arrives after serving since 2009 as president of Calvert Hall College High School, a boys school, in Baltimore. He left there in June, according to a story in the Baltimore Sun, after “prayerful discernment” and for “personal and professional reasons.”
His arrival in Peabody was announced by Arthur Makar of the school’s board of trustees.
“We are thrilled that Brother Thomas Zoppo is taking the reins,” he said in a press release. “He is joining the ranks of outstanding Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and lay leaders who have led the school for over a half century.”
A member of an order dedicated to education, Zoppo has a degree in business administration from Villanova University and a master’s in school administration from Manhattan College. He also attended the Boston College Catholic School Leadership Program.
In total, Zoppo has 30 years’ experience in education. He is taking the school leadership from former principal, Sister Catherine Fleming.
