BEVERLY — A New Hampshire resident is facing 13 charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, after an altercation with her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday in violation of a restraining order.
Cerissa MacDonald, 27, of 11 Tamarack Lane, Raymond, N.H., was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, destruction of property over $250, threatening to commit a crime (murder), disorderly conduct, violation of an abuse-prevention order, stalking in violation of a restraining order, and criminal harassment. In addition, MacDonald had five warrants outstanding against her. She was arrested at 8:23 p.m. near Hardy Street and Railroad Avenue.
"(The) male victim said he looked from his apartment window and saw his former girlfriend smashing the window of his car," Beverly police Lt. Tim Hegarty said.
When the resident went out to stop MacDonald, she swung a hammer at him and repeatedly threatened to kill him, Hegarty said. The hammer missed, but the victim did suffer scratches to his back from the altercation, Hegarty said.
Police described MacDonald as "out of control" during the incident. The victim was reportedly able to wrestle MacDonald to the ground.
When police arrived, MacDonald was trying to bite her victim, according to the police report.
After her arrest, MacDonald was transported to the hospital, where police said she continued to cause problems. She had injured her hands breaking the glass on her ex-boyfriend's car with a 3-pound rock hammer, police said.
Officer Mark Panjwani was first on scene and was assisted by officers Michael Boccuzzi and Antonio Diruzza.
