Instead of turning onto McPherson Drive, a car drove onto nearby train tracks and had to be towed from the scene at 5:54 p.m.

Police responded to reports of a resident attempting to steal beer from a Cabot Street business at 8:01 p.m.

Nothing seemed to be stolen from a car parked on Cabot Street that was found with its passenger window smashed at 11:23 p.m.

Thursday

Fraudulent use of a credit card was reported on Cabot Street at 1:40 p.m.

Salem

Wednesday

A loose dog in the front yard of an Upham Street home prevented the delivery of mail at 5:23 p.m. The owner was told to "keep the dog inside until delivery was made."

A summons will be issued to a Lynn woman who is accused of fraudulently returning goods she never purchased to Walmart on Highland Avenue. According to police, video footage shows the woman putting merchandise from Walmart into a cart, returning it and then filling the cart again. The second time she filled the cart, she checked out and provided the clerk with a gift card from her previous fraudulent return. The incident was reported at 6:45 p.m.

About $220 was reportedly withdrawn from a Dunlap Street resident's account without his approval at 12:57 p.m.

A car was broken into near Costco on Newbury Street at 9:21 p.m.

Thursday

Paul Boudreau, 54, of 909 Salem St., Salem, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery and attempted murder at 7:41 a.m. on Newbury Street at the Knights Inn. Boudreau is accused of choking a woman, who had redness around her neck, police said.

Peabody

Wednesday

Julie M. Coughlin, 39, of 82 Newhall Ave., Apt. 201, Saugus, was arrested and charged with two counts of larceny over $250 from Nordstrom on Andover Street.

Thursday

Daniel Soto, 17, of 13 Goldberg Road, Peabody, was arrested and charged with failing to stop or yield and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 10:33 a.m. on Warren Street.

Yicauri Rodriguez, 33, of 16 Ashton Terrace, Apt. 2, Lynn, was arrested and charged with failure to yield at an intersection and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license on Andover Street at 12:23 p.m.
