Police arrest three on heroin-related charges

BEVERLY — Three men were arrested on heroin-related charges Monday evening after police received a report of possible drug activity in a parking lot on Beverly Commons Drive.

John Candela, 20, of 9 Bellair St., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of possession of heroin with intent to distribute and a number plate violation. Also arrested was Mario Candela, 19, of the same address, and Cole L. Behsman, 19, of 32 Clement Ave., Peabody, both on a charge of being knowably present where heroin is being kept.

Police received a 7:35 p.m. report that three or four males were possibly engaged in drug activity in the parking lot between 1 and 2 Beverly Commons Drive, according to the incident log and an interview with an officer.

Responding police found that John Candela was in possession of heroin in separate packages, leading to the distribution charge, the officer said. It was unclear how much of the drug Candela allegedly possessed.

The three were arrested without incident.
