No one hurt in three-alarm fire at Beverly Garden Suites

BEVERLY — No one was hurt in a three-alarm fire at Beverly Garden Suites on Route 1A in North Beverly this afternoon.

Firefighters from area departments including Danvers, Peabody, Manchester, Salem and Topsfield, were called to report to the fire scene, at 5 Lakeview Ave. across from the Bertucci's plaza, as well as to provide station coverage.

The manager of the motel, which has 23 rooms, said she thought only four people were in the building at the time of the fire.

Beverly fire officials said they believe the fire was caused by plumbers doing work with a plumbing torch. An investigation is ongoing.

According to the Beverly Garden Suites website, the property is owned and operated by Brenda and Ron Spence, who also live on the premises.
