Wrestling takes hold in Beverly

BEVERLY — Professional wrestling is coming to Beverly.

An event called “The War on the North Shore” will be held at the Cove Community Center, 19 E. Corning St., Saturday at 7 p.m.

The show is run by New England Championship Wrestling, which runs live events throughout New England. The matches in Beverly will be taped for NECW’s weekly Thursday night show on WMFP-TV, Channel 62 in Boston.

Saturday’s show will include Paul Richard of Lynn, a former World Wrestling Federation referee who was inducted into the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010.

Richard will serve as the “special extreme enforcer” for the tag team championship match, one of five scheduled matches on the night.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door for adults, and $10 for kids under 12. Advance tickets can be purchased online at or by phone at 1-800-838-3006.
