Parents can weigh in on future principal

PEABODY — Tomorrow night, a focus group will collect input from parents and community members with a stake in the search for a new principal of McCarthy School.

The group is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. in the McCarthy School cafeteria/auditorium, according to a press release issued by Superintendent C. Milton Burnett.

The superintendent will collect feedback regarding the desired qualities of a new principal and relay it to a screening committee of faculty, staff, parents and community members. The committee will review applications, interview candidates and recommend finalists to Burnett. The superintendent will then conduct public interviews before making a selection.

The opening at McCarthy was created when Principal Amy Sullivan resigned earlier this month and accepted a job in Newburyport.

McCarthy is not the only school searching for a principal. The superintendent is also in the process of filling vacancies at Center and West Elementary schools.

McCarthy School faculty and staff are scheduled to participate in a focus group at 1 p.m tomorrow.
