Lately, there have been several reports of contractors attempting to scam residents by promising to inspect and repair their chimney. The latest such suspected scam occurred at 8:09 a.m. to a resident of Blueberry Road. The company, Brush Hollow Maintenance, inspected the chimney and "made a high pressure service pitch" asking to do a "rush job," according to the resident. The resident who reported the problem claimed the business received an "F" grade from the Better Business Bureau, however, a check with the organization shows that they have not rated the business. The resident put a pay stop on his deposit check.

A police lieutenant had ammo placed in his mailbox to be destroyed by another officer after an unknown resident dropped it off at the station at 9:37 a.m. on Ocean Avenue.

Stephen G. Scott, 65, of 32 Sagamore Road in Marblehead, was arrested and charged with violating an abuse prevention order at 1:06 p.m. Atlantic Avenue because he allegedly contacted the victim over an online dating service.

Peabody

Jose G. Deleon, 27, of 645 Western Ave. Apt. 1L in Lynn, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to use a signal at 2:12 p.m. on Centennial Drive.

Neil J. Keenom, 21, of 2202 Crane Brook Way in Peabody, was charged with two counts of possession to distribute of a Class B substance at 2:30 p.m. at the above address. The arrest was made as police were attempting to serve Keenom with a search warrant.

A vehicle was egged on Tracey Street at 11:32 p.m.

Salem

Thursday

After reporting his credit card missing a couple of days ago, a Lynde Street resident noticed seven unauthorized transactions totalling $266.72 on his account at 4:55 p.m.

Police responded to a report of a loud party at an Orchard Street residence at 10:11 p.m. When they arrived at the apartment, they found six people present but no party or noise issue.

Friday

Police issued $950 in citations to a driver and his passenger at 2:24 a.m. on Bridge Street. An officer used radar to determine that the offending vehicle was moving at 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. After the officer pulled the vehicle over, he noticed the passenger trying to hide a can of beer, which the officer later determined was one quarter full. The driver was issued a $450 speeding ticket and the passenger a $500 citation for possession of an open container in a vehicle. The driver was determined not to be under the influence.

Damien C. Henderson, 30, of 17 Winter Ave. in Malden, was arrested and charged with violating a restraining order at 3:09 a.m. on Loring Avenue.

The fraudulent withdrawals from an account that totalled about $975 seemed to have come from someone in Paris, according to a confused resident of Barstow Street who reported that someone had taken money from his account.

A man who was reported to police because he was sitting behind a tree on Powder House Lane was just waiting for his shift to start at 11:48 a.m.

A woman came to the police station at 2:24 p.m. to report a possible restraining order violation. She said that recently her truck had been towed to the possible offenders residence. According to her, he "sold her truck without her knowledge." Police said she would need to contact the Police Department in the town where the problem occurred. The woman said she was currently "feeling things out" with the individual she had the restraining order out against.

Beverly

Thursday

After about 30 minutes on scene, a husband and wife went home after a verbal argument in a parking lot on Herrick Street at 3:10 p.m.

Robert A. Masjoan, 21, of 5 Courtney Drive in Beverly, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery at 5:04 p.m. at the above address. Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance going on at the address.

A car was reportedly broken into on Cabot Street at 11:04 p.m.

Friday

The Department of Public Works, according to police, did not immediately respond to a request for them to help move an injured skunk out of the middle of West Street at 8:30 a.m. An officer who said he had been on scene for about 20 minutes "required the assistance of (the) DPW to at least move the injured animal into an area where it would be safe to shoot it." Police said the DPW did not arrive and officials cleared the area. Over three hours later at 11:58 a.m., the police were called again because the skunk remained in the same spot and was "still alive." Police said they were "unable to get DPW to assist."

A larceny was reported at Target at 10 a.m. on Independence Way.
