State police capture drug suspect after crashes in Lynn

LYNN (AP) — State police have arrested a drug suspect who allegedly tried to run over a trooper, then crashed into several cars trying to escape.

State Police spokesman David Procopio said yesterday that 26-year-old Luis Rosario of Boston was hospitalized after a trooper shot him in the arm during the pursuit in Lynn.

Procopio said the trooper pulled Rosario over at about 3:30 p.m., but was knocked off his feet when Rosario drove away. The trooper wasn’t seriously hurt.

Officers pursued Rosario, who allegedly struck two state cruisers and two civilian cars before a wheel came off his SUV.

Procopio said Rosario took the car of a woman trying to help one of the crash victims.

He abandoned it and was arrested on foot shortly after.

It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
