Man, 61, is charged with exposing self

SALEM — A 61-year-old man was arrested Sunday for allegedly exposing himself to an acquaintance.

Eric W. Churchill of 40 Bridge St., Salem, is charged with open and gross lewdness, following a report that Churchill pulled his shorts down.

The victim told police at 6 p.m. that Churchill exposed himself while in her backyard drinking beers at noon that day.

The victim told police she was in shock, turned her head away and told him that "his behavior was inappropriate" after he exposed himself.

Police went to speak with Churchill, who they said admitted to being in the victim's backyard but not to exposing himself.

The victim also told police that her neighbor, another man who was also in her backyard when it happened, would deny the incident occurred since he is always making sexual advances at her.

Police questioned the neighbor, and he did deny Churchill exposed himself.
