Beverly High School students take a high speed driving class

In a class designed to teach better driving skills, 17 Beverly High School students spent a rainy afternoon behind the wheel, whipping around cones, coming to screeching haults, and learning what to do if they're in an emergency situation on the road. "In driving school they say you should go in the direction of the skid, but I really didn't know what it meant," said junior Brenna Bailey. "If you ever get in a bad situation, this will help." Through In Control Advanced Driver Training in North Andover, the four-hour class was sponsored by the Beverly Rotary, which paid half of the $300 cost for each student in an effort to promote safe driving.
