BEVERLY — Six North Shore students have won medals in the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition.
The awards began in 1923 and include past winners such as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote and Robert Redford.
Gold medal winners from the North Shore were Corey Kramer (printmaking) and Phoebe Britton (drawing) of Landmark School and Allin Skiba of Masconomet Regional (photography).
Justin Finkenaur of Hamilton-Wenham Regional (sculpture) and Elizabeth Irvin (flash fiction) and Sebastian Carpenter (sculpture) of Brookwood School won silver medals.
The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, which oversees the competition, presents more than $250,000 annually in awards and scholarships to the top winners and their teachers.
The national gold medal winners will be recognized at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 31.
