Jacob M. 'Jack' Israelsohn


Beverly — Jacob M. “Jack” Israelsohn, 89, of Beverly, formerly of Ipswich, died at Blueberry Hill Nursing Home, on Monday morning, after a long illness.

A retired engineer at EG & G Co., he was born and raised in New York. He was a WWII Army veteran. He attended CCNY and transferred to University of Florida, where he received a bachelor's degree.

Mr. Israelsohn was a resident of Ipswich for 27 years, and had served on the Ipswich Conservation Commission. He had been a resident of Beverly for the past 34 years, and an active member of Temple Bnai Abraham. He had served on the Temple Board of Directors, ritual committee, cemetery committee, and as Gabbai, a Lay Leader at the Temple.

Mr. Israelsohn is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine (Gelin) Israelsohn; his children, Eve and her husband, Charles Noss, Joshua Israelsohn and his wife, Linda Lugo-Israelsohn, and Ethan Israelsohn and his wife, Anne Sperling. He was the cherished grandfather of Alexander and Ryan Noss, Hannah, Rachel, Sophie, Ezra, and Noah Israelsohn. He was predeceased by his brother, Abraham Israelsohn.

ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Temple Bnai Abraham, 200 East Lothrop Street, Beverly, will be on Thursday, December 19, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Danvers. Condolence calls may be made at the Temple Bnai Abraham, following the interment, until 7 p.m., then at his late residence on Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Minyan will be held on Thursday and Saturday, at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to Temple Bnai Abraham, 200 East Lothrop St., Beverly, MA 01915, or the Jacob M & Elaine G.
