Gloucester, MA — Paul A. Hayes of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Beverly, MA on January 3, 2014.
He was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 29, 1968, the son of the late William A. Hayes and Karen Hayes. He attended public schools in Gloucester, MA. Following high school, Paul served his country honorably in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in South Korea with the 5th Battalion, 29th Field Artillery as a Cannon Crewmember.
Once returned to civilian life, Paul worked in the commercial fishing industry off the coast of Gloucester. He was an avid commercial and sport fisherman. Paul also was an accomplished cook who enjoyed preparing delicious meals for family and friends. He also loved to ride his motorcycle, a pursuit he shared with his father.
Paul was predeceased by his father, William A. Hayes of Gloucester. He is survived by his mother, Karen Hayes of Portsmouth, NH; his sister, Adrienne R. Hayes of Kittery, ME and her children, Shanti and Darshan Snow. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial celebration of his life will take place at sea in the coming months. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s name to: The Veterans Council, 502 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915.
