Carol A. Gillette, 73

Carol A. Gillette, age 73, of Lynn passed away February 13, 2012, surrounded by her family.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Young) Gillette. Carol spent her early years in Lynn, eventually moving to Connecticut for several years before returning to her family home.

Carol was a member of the Wakefield Chapter of TOPS, Mass Senior Action and the Red Hat Society. She was a dedicated Red Sox fan, making their game schedule a top priority. She will be best remembered as a loving mother to her daughters, Debra Plummer of Lynn, Tina Reynolds & her husband Ken of Terryville, CT and the late Linda Jean Plummer and to her son, the late Philip "Chummy" Plummer.

She is remembered as "Sis" to her brothers, Paul Gillette & wife Phyllis of Lynn, Raymond Gillette & his wife Robin of Beverly, Albert Gillette & his partner Debbie Bryant of Lynn, the late John Gillette & his wife Coreen of Lynn and the late Billy Gillette & his wife Sally of Lynn; her sisters, Mary Abbott of Beverly, Patricia Prunier & her husband Bill of Las Vegas, NV and Diane Nelson & her husband Bill of Wakefield.

She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Corey Plummer of Danvers, Erin Plummer of Revere and Alea Cote of Bristol, CT; her great-grandchildren, Stephen, Jonathan, Sophia and Phoebe; her uncle Bob Young of Seabrook, NH, special friends, James Bowden of Palm Beach, FL and June Toth of Lynn, as well as, several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 A.M. in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation: Friday, 4-7 P.M. Those desiring may make memorial gifts in Carol Gillette's name to the Kaplan Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA

    Beverly — Elizabeth W. “Betty” (Richard) Byrne, 87, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Twin Oaks Nursing Home with her children by her side.

    Born in Salem on December 31, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Edmund J. and Wilhelmina E. (Klink) Richard. She resided in Wenham for many years. After graduating from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, Betty continued her education and moved to Dayton, OH, where she worked as a secretary at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for several years before returning to Massachusetts and residing in Beverly.

    Sarasota, FL — Evalina M. (Rogers) Booth of Sarasota, FL, and Great Hill, Topsfield, MA, passed away on Wednesday, May 16th, at the age of 95. She was the wife of the late Harold C. Booth with whom she shared 72 years of marriage. She was born in Beverly, MA, September 12, 1916, to William and Jean Rogers. In later years she and her husband lived at Prides Crossing, MA, and Moultonboro, NH. In 1990 they became residents of Florida, living on Siesta Key, Sarasota. Mrs. Booth was a past Worthy Matron of Dianna Chapter of Eastern Star in Beverly, MA. She took up golf at the age of 50 and played well into her 80s. She and her husband were longtime members of Bald Peak Colony Club, Melvin Village, NH, and The Oaks, Laurel Oaks and Sunrise Country Clubs in Sarasota as well as the Sarasota Yacht Club. Evvie, as she was called by family and friends, was an avid knitter. She kept her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren well supplied with her beautiful work.

  • Hyman Ainbinder, 103

    Peabody — Hyman Ainbinder, 103, formerly of Peabody and Randolph died at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale on Monday, after a long illness.

    Born in Russia, he came as a 5-year-old with his family to the West End of Boston. After WWI, the family moved to Chelsea and then to Peabody. He worked at General Electric during WWII. After the war he worked with his father in the Peabody Kosher Meat Market and moved the store from Mill Street to Main Street in downtown Peabody. Hyman operated the store until he retired in 1971.Mr. Ainbinder was a longtime member of Cong. Sons of Israel and Temple Ner Tamid in Peabody where he assisted in Cantorial duties because he had a pleasant voice.

    Born in Salem, Blanche was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Wasiewsky) Markewicz. She worked as an assembler for Sylvania on Loring Avenue in Salem for 27 years and later with Osram in Danvers for 5 years. Blanche enjoyed walking and loved riding her bicycle.

She also leaves her aunt, Theresa Jacques of Wenham; five great nieces and nephews; her devoted friend, Richard Langley of Reading; as well as many other friends and cousins.

    Born in Lynn, January 23, 1944, he was the son of the late John J. Corbett Sr., and the late Gladys M. (Shanahan) Corbett. He attended St. Pius School, Lynn, and St. John’s Preparatory School, Danvers; received a B.S. in biology from Boston College, Chestnut Hill; and an M.S. in medical microbiology from the Marquette University School of Medicine (now the Medical College of Wisconsin), Milwaukee, Wis. He gained dual Irish citizenship in 1990.

    Beverlee (Millner) Botta, 65, of Rotonda West, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 3, 2012 of natural causes.

    Born in Malden on July 21, 1946, she was the daughter of Leslie and Madelyn Millner of Lynn. She was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1964. Beverlee worked hard as a waitress, bank teller and most of all as a mother of three sons. She very much enjoyed traveling and weekends relaxing by the lake at her mobile home in NH. She was very fortunate to fulfill her dream of retirement in Florida with her loving husband.

Cecile moved to Lynn in 1952 as a young woman. She lived in Lynn for many years. In 1984 she moved to Salem and returned to Lynn in 2004.

    A man was pinned under a burning vehicle that had flipped onto its side. Flames from the car's engine shot perilously close to the immobile body. Rideout and his two fellow firefighters tried twice to free the victim but could not budge him.

  • Anti-turbine group gets boost from Falmouth SALEM — Recent tests showing that a wind turbine in Falmouth exceeded state noise guidelines has bolstered a local group trying to block a turbine planned for Winter Island.
    Peter Carlton of Salem Wind, a group fighting the proposed Salem turbine, said the latest test results prove that wind turbines are much noisier than predicted in the studies done by local municipalities.
