Lynn, MA — Francis H. “Frank” Mulvey Jr., 86, of Lynn, died on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at a local nursing home, after being stricken suddenly. He was the husband of the late Anna F. (VanDyke) Mulvey, and the son of the late Francis and Jennie (Giguere) Mulvey. Born and raised in Lynn, Frank lived in Lynn all his life. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1945, and Boston University, Class of 1953, where he studied accounting. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He worked as a firefighter for the City of Lynn for 27 years, until his retirement in 1982.
A longtime Little League coach, Frank was a well known supporter of all sports, but especially softball at Frye Park, where the diamond is named after him. He was a member of the Lynn Fire Relief Association, the Hibernians in Lynn, the Meadowlarks, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2355, Boston.
He is survived by his three children, Stephen Mulvey and his wife, Susan, of Peabody, Carol Delaney and her husband, Paul, of Nahant, and Brian Mulvey and his wife, Debbi, of Lynn; his grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Ryan, Kevin, Christopher, and Cameron Mulvey; his great-grandchild, Chase Mulvey; his two sisters, Patricia Penney of Florida, and Gloria Soucy of Rowley; as well as several nieces and nephews
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Route 129, Lynn, on Wednesday, at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn, at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery Fire Fighter Lot, Lynn.
