Nancy G. Thacher, 80


Peabody — Nancy G. Thacher, 80, of Peabody, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, with her family at her side at Rosewood Nursing Home in West Peabody.

Nancy was born in Boston on August 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Arthur and Vera (Ilinitch) Thacher. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1949. She pursued her education at Burdett College in Boston attaining an associate's degree.

Nancy began her working career as a secretary at G.E. in Lynn and was later employed in the same capacity at Sylvania on Endicott St. Danvers, a position she held until her retirement. She was gifted with a beautiful voice, and sang with the Paul Madore Chorale. Nancy loved oil painting, doing ceramics and art work as hobbies. She was associated with Calvary Baptist Church in Peabody, and West Congregational Church in West Peabody.

Nancy is survived by two sisters, Elsie Street of Ohio, Grace Cherwek and her husband Roland of Lynnfield; two nieces, Karen Geberth and her husband Christopher of Georgetown, Kathryn Teal and her husband Matthew of Danvers; three nephews, Carlton Cherwek and his wife Laura of North Reading, Keith Cherwek and his wife Lisa of Georgetown, and Kristian Street of Ohio; ten grand-nieces and one grand-nephew, and a special friend, Mildred “Millie” D’Entremont of Vt.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 5, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. at the West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson St., Peabody.
