Fairview, MI — Mr. Joseph William Devarenne, 90, of Fairview, Mich., beloved husband of Shirley (Darling) Devarenne, died Saturday April 6, 2013, at The Home at AuSable Valley Community in Michigan.
Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Haggerty) Devarenne. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1942.
An honorably discharged veteran, Joseph served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II and Korea. He retired from the service in 1964.
On April 17, 1982 he married Shirley Darling in Tonawanda, NY. The couple moved to Fairview, Mich., from Tampa, Fla., where they lived for the past 20 years.
Joseph truly enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He was an avid golfer and a faithful member of the Catholic Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Joseph is survived by his daughters, Toni Ann Devarenne, of Blackwood, N.J., Teresa Preuss and her husband, Nathan, of Cherry Hill, N.J., Barbara Devarenne, of Sicklerville, N.J., Maria Devarenne-Zaleski and her husband, Mark, of Brentwood, Tenn.; his step-daughter, Linda Darling of Palm Harbor, Fla., and his step son, Raymond Darling and his wife, Deborah, of Tonawanda, N.Y.; his six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his sister, Eleanor Digiuseppe, of Danvers; his brothers, John Devarenne and his wife, Ruth, of Danvers, and Leo Devarenne and his wife, Sue, of Rockport, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Mary and Phyllis.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass which will be held in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers, Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. Burial is in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
