Marblehead, MA — Louise Elsie (Cavannah) Humphrey, 85, of Marblehead, passed away in Marblehead on April 23, 2013. She was the wife of the late Norman M. Humphrey with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Gerisch) Cavannah.
She was raised in the Ryal Side neighborhood and graduated from Beverly High School. She moved to Marblehead when she married in 1952 and has lived ever since in the house they built together.
Louise held various jobs throughout the years, starting as an office clerk at United Shoe Machinery in Beverly. She then devoted her time to being a mother and homemaker. When the children were grown, she enjoyed working part time sewing and machine knitting for both Margaretta’s and Betsy’s in Marblehead.
She was an active member and treasurer of the S.O.S. Club of the Old North Church in Marblehead. Louise enjoyed laughing with family and friends, spending summers in East Wakefield, N.H., country and line dancing, playing Michigan Kitty with the Clubbers, knitting, sewing, crafts of all kinds, and shopping in search of bargains.
She is survived by her children, Dana N. Humphrey and his wife, Barbara, of Palmyra, Maine, and Diane L. Conradi and her husband, Scott, of Madison, S.D.; her sister-in-law, Doris Cavannah; her nephew, Robert Cavannah; and her niece, Bette Jacques. She was the sister of the late John Cavannah.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm St., Marblehead, on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
