Zack A. Zalewski, 22, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on February 15, 2012. He is survived by his father, Edward and his wife, Cynthia (Dorr) Zalewski of Groveland and his mother, Charlene (Chaplain) and her husband, David Sheehan of Lynn.
Born in Boston on July 6, 1989 he has been a resident of Groveland for the past 17 years. A graduate of Pentucket Regional High School class of 2008, he was a member of the Sachems football team. Zack was also a graduate of Northern Essex Community College, where he received an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts. He was currently an employee of Kendall Construction Co. in Groveland, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Zack was an avid snowboarder and worked as a snowboard instructor at Ski Bradford for several years.
A lifelong dream of Zack’s came true when he traveled to Colorado to snowboard the peaks of the Rocky Mountains, an experience he truly enjoyed and would never forget. He also recently spent a week in Florida fishing with his family in the Gulf of Mexico. Zack was a person who never said no to anyone that needed his help and, above all, loved life and always turned a negative into a positive. The loss of Zack will surely leave a huge void in the lives of the people who knew him best.
He is also survived by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Heather and Peter Garofalo of Lynn and Shauna and Mat Marcotte of Groveland; his maternal grandmother, Delores (Carpenter) Lee of Webster; two nephews, Cameron Powers and John Garofalo, both of Lynn; a niece, Ashlin Rose Marcotte of Groveland; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Arthur J. and Roberta H. (Gallagher) Zalewski and his maternal grandfather, Charles “Kenny” Chaplain.
ARRANGEMENTS: Zack’s funeral service will be held Monday in the Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King St., Groveland at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 2 to 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
