Laurie Powell

PEABODY - Laurie (Granger) Powell of West Peabody, born Aug. 30, 1920 in Worcester, died peacefully at Rosewood Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, March 29, 2007. She was the widow of Robert M. Powell who died in 1985.

Laurie was the beloved mother of Mary-Ellen of Hartford, Conn.; Nancy of Marblehead; and Kathleen and Margaret of Arlington. She was the grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of five.Read this article in full with a

    IPSWICH — Carmen Quint Hebbel, age 90, died after a brief illness at the Hospice of the North Shore’s Kaplan House on Memorial Day 2012.

    Born July 25, 1921 in North New Portland, ME to Blaine E. Quint and Thelma (Luce) Quint, she was predeceased in 2011 by her husband, Carroll J. Hebbel with whom she was married for 67 years.

  • Race will benefit family of fallen Peabody firefighter PEABODY — Hundreds of runners will be at Brown Elementary School tomorrow to raise money for the family of James Rice, the Peabody firefighter who died fighting a blaze just before Christmas.
    "After Jim's death, we sat around feeling sad, but we knew we needed to do something for the family," said Lisa O'Connell, a PTO member at Brown School. "We started this race to show the family how much the community cares."
