Barbara J. (Holden) Bibbo


Marblehead — Barbara J. (Holden) Bibbo, a longtime resident of Marblehead, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at her home. Barbara was born on February 10, 1936, in Springfield, Mass., and was the only child of the late Frederick and Florence Holden.

Barbara graduated from Cushing Academy, where she was a cheerleader and tennis player. She went on to attend Lasell Junior College in Newton, Mass.

Barbara, "Gammy," was totally devoted to her grandchildren, seldom missing any activity in their lives, whether it be in athletics, academic, or social event. Her other love was the theater. In addition to other theater groups, she was very active in the Marblehead Little Theatre for over 20 years in the 60s and 70s. She performed in a variety of acting roles. Her two favorites were the characters of Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls," and Lucy in “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown."

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Pat J. Bibbo; a daughter, Cindy A. Currier and her husband, Brad, of Gloucester; a son, Frederick J. Bibbo; and four grandchildren, Brad Currier Jr. and his wife, Amy, Samantha Bibbo and Madison Bibbo. She is also survived by a brother in-law, Anthony Bibbo; two sister in-laws, Lucy Jordon and Pauline Leonard; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, on Wednesday, December 18, at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
