Salem — F. Bernice “G.G” (Green) Reece, 84, of Salem, wife of the late Robert E. Reece Sr., died on Sunday, December 15, 2013, surrounded by family.
Born in Monroe, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Vardaman and Exie (Cantrell) Green. She was raised and educated in local schools.
She and her late husband married, moved to Schenectady, N.Y., where they lived for several years. They later moved to Salem, where she became employed by EG&G, and later at Varian, until her retirement.
She was an avid gardener, and took great pride in her flowers. An occasional visitor to Foxwoods, she also enjoyed going to auctions. Her hands were always busy with craft, either knitting, or crocheting, which she shared with family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Robert E. Reece Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Peabody, and Linda S. Parsons of Salem; sister, Annie Ruth Stevens of Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Janet Northcutt of Colorado; three grandchildren, Ryan Parsons and his wife, Michelle, of Amesbury, Garrett Parsons and his wife, Karolyn, of Salem, and James Reece of Peabody; six great-grandchildren, Julia, Nathan and Andrew Parsons, and Xavier, Deacon and Eli Parsons; and her cat, Abby. She was predeceased by a brother, Graden “Douglas“ Green.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on on Saturday, December 21, at 11 a.m., in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, corner of North Street, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At the family’s request there are no visiting hours. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
