BEVERLY — Norman E. Peterson, 91, passed away on December 28, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the son of the late Gustaf and Florence "Gladys" (Morgan) Peterson. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Clare "Mimi" (Veinot) Peterson; and his son, Daniel N. Peterson. Norman was born in Beverly, and as he always liked to tell people, "I live in the house I was born in, the same house my mother was born in."
Norman was a 1940 graduate of Beverly High School. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy in the Submarine Service. Norman retired from the General Electric Co. in Lynn (Riverworks) after 48 years.
He loved his family. He was a loyal, selfless, proud, and stubborn man. Norman would help everyone, yet never ask, or accept help from others. Norman’s family would like to thank Bill McGann, Stu Irving, Whitey O'Hearn, and Fred Splaine for keeping watch over him after the death of his son.
He is survived by one daughter, Kimberlee Crofts and her husband, Buzz, of Beverly; one brother, Richard Peterson and his wife, Elizabeth, of Beverly; three grandchildren, Andrew Crofts of Beverly, Jeffrey Crofts and his wife, Julie, of Salem, Andrea Peterson of Beverly, and her mother, Julie Menosky.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane Street, Beverly, on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be held privately. Contributions may be made in Norman’s memory to the Beverly High School Boys Ice Hockey Team, 100 Sohier Road, Beverly, MA 01915.
