Gary S. LaPointe, 59


PEABODY, MA — Gary S. LaPointe, 59, son of the late Robert E. and Alice (Dawson) LaPointe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born and raised in Beverly, Gary was a graduate of Beverly High School and graduated top of his class at the University of New Hampshire. For many years, he was employed at Polaroid, and was dedicated to his job as a professor at North Shore Community College and Salem State University.

Gary was an avid sports fan, and a runner, having completed the Boston Marathon. He also found a love for golf later on in life. He spent countless hours coaching both of his sons in youth baseball and basketball.

He is survived by two sons, Bryan LaPointe of Beverly, and Matthew LaPointe and his wife, Lindsey, of Winterport, Maine; one brother, Michael LaPointe and his wife, Pamela, and niece, Courtney, and nephew, Lucas, of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren, Leah and Weston LaPointe of Winterport.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, on Saturday, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., North Beverly, on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Central Cemetery.
