Beverly, MA — Laura Souza Genawese, resident of the Girdler House in Beverly, Mass., passed away peacefully at the Kaplan House in Danvers, Mass. Born October 27, 1924, to Manuel P. Souza (Joe Rivers) and Laura Arvilla Souza. Laura was a devoted daughter, mother, auntie, and grandmother. She loved Gloucester and was very proud of her heritage. Laura cherished her family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Charles (Chuck) Genawese; her nephews, David and Richard Souza; and her brother, Manuel P. Souza. Laura is survived by her loving son, Matthew Genawese and his wife, Bethany, of Lexington, S.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Bill Walsh and her grandsons, Casey and Colby Walsh, all of Ipswich, Mass.; great-nieces, Pamela Souza and her family of Gloucester, Mass., Jeannie Carrol and her family of Woodbrige, Va., Manuel Souza and his family of Front Royal, Va., David Souza and Christopher Souza of Gloucester, Janet, Candace, Michelle Souza of Gloucester, Mass.
Laura's family would like to express their deepest gratititude to all the wonderful people that contributed to her care during the last chapter of her life, this brought her great comfort and peace during this time.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Voyage Church in Gloucester, Mass. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
