Marguerite “Margie” (McIntire) McVann, 82, of Peabody, wife of the late John Edward McVann, died peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the home she cherished while surrounded by her family.
Mrs. McVann was born in Salem on March 25, 1929, the daughter of Edmund J. and Margaret (Regan) McIntire. She was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1947. She has been a resident of Peabody since 1952.
Mrs. McVann was employed for 40 years as a medical secretary at J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody and later to Dr. William Gallagher, Dr. John Eliopoulos and Dr. Evan Orphanos until her retirement. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family and later was so proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. As hobbies she enjoyed reading, working in her garden and was an avid golfer.
Mrs. McVann is survived by her children and their spouses, John M. and Judith McVann, Marianne and Stephen Britton, all of Peabody, and Maureen E. and Joseph Jerz of Cohasset; her grandchildren, John Jerz, Andrew Jerz, Stacie Britton, Emily Britton, Ben Britton, Ryan McVann and Sarah McVann; a brother, Larry McIntire of Salem; two sisters, Patricia Espinola of Peabody and Louise Eldredge of Lynn; a sister-in-law, Josephine McVann of Lynn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard McIntire.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at noon at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
