Ipswich — Elizabeth M. (Sonia) Collyer, of Pine Street, loving wife of the late Howard M. Collyer, died on Saturday, November 16, 2013, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following her long illness.
Born in Salem on March 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth A. (Ryan) Sonia. She was raised in Salem and was 1953 Graduate of Salem High School. She continued her education at the Essex County Agricultural Institute. Married in Salem in 1954, the Collyers made their home in Hamilton while building their home on Pine Street in Ipswich.
Elizabeth was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed home flower gardening and crocheting for her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her generosity and quick wit.
She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church in Ipswich.
Mrs. Collyer is survived by two sons, Mark W. Collyer of Haverhill, and John P. Collyer and his wife, Leslie, of Ipswich; a daughter, Patricia A. Collyer of Ipswich; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Andino of Kingston, N.H., Curtis Byra of Newmarket, N.H., Jillian Byra of Andover, Alyssa Collyer of Marlborough, N.H., Howie Collyer of Long Island, N.Y., Timothy Collyer of Syracuse, N.Y., and Matthew Collyer of Ipswich; a great-grandchild, Bailey Andino; and several nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Richard Lunt, formerly of Danvers, Barbara Lunt, formerly of Beverly, and the late Sister Cecil Lunt, formerly of Wakefield.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., on Wednesday, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich.
