Ipswich — Virginia M. (Burns) Marc-Aurele, 86, of Upper River Road, Ipswich, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in the Essex Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Beverly, following her long illness. She was the wife of the late Leo P. Marc-Aurele, who died in 1988.
Born in Ipswich on August 13, 1927, she was one of the five children of the late William R. and Elinor M. (Jones) Burns. Raised in Ipswich, she was a 1945 graduate of Ipswich High School. Married in 1951, the Marc-Aureles built their home and raised their family on Upper River Road. Virginia was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She was a longtime member of the Ipswich United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Leo Paul Marc-Aurele of Evans Mills, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Michael P. Sheppard of Salisbury, Keith R. Sheppard of Lynn, Lea Rausch and Rene Rausch, both of New York City, and Maxfield Rausch of Hawaii; two sisters, Priscilla A. Wile and Barbarta P. Caputi, both of Ipswich; a son-in-law, Dr John Rausch of Hawaii; and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late Sharon Sheppard and the late Sheila Rausch, both formerly of Hawaii, and sister of the late Robert Burns and the late Norma Balser, both formerly of Ipswich.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, February 8, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich, followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. An hour of visitation will precede the service on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to the time of the service.
