Dorothy M. "Mamie" (Gilbert) Dolan, 94, of Peabody and formerly of Everett and Chelsea, died early Tuesday morning, January 31, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Dolan.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late David and Gertrude (Anderson) Gilbert. She was raised and educated in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. She has lived in Peabody for the past 38 years. Dorothy attended Burdett College in Boston and earned her associate's degree and later worked as a clerk in the Radiology Department at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett for over 15 years before she retired.
Dorothy enjoyed photography scrap booking and was a former member of the greater Lynn Camera Club. She also was an avid Red Sox fan, but most important to her, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and later with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne-Marie Yeo of Peabody and Kathleen Dolan of Nevada, 7 grandchildren, Dennis Jr. and his wife Beverly, Patrick, Krisann and her husband Gene, Heather and her husband Rick, Bridgette, Mellissa and her husband Bert, and Armand and his wife Tanya, 8 great-grandchildren, Patrick Jr., Morgan, Katlyn, Shianne, Ruby, Sean, Jordyn, and Bailey.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
