Revere (Beachmont) — Mr. Robert E. Mercier, age 80, died on Thursday evening at the Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Carmela (Ferraro) Mercier.
Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Albert and Loret (Levesque) Mercier. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Mr. Mercier worked for many years as a sales representative for the home fuel industry. A resident of Beachmont-Revere for the past 33 years, he was a lector at the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Revere and presently at Immaculate Conception Church in Revere. Mr. Mercier was a member of the Revere Senior Bowling League, bowling at Lucky Strikes Lanes, and played bocce at the Revere Senior Center.
Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Lea Simard and her husband, John of Peabody, Patricia McGrath and her husband, Kevin of New York, Michael Mercier and his wife, Dawn of Hopkinton and Guy Mercier and his wife, Brandy of New Hampshire. He was the step-father of Rosemary Ferraro and her companion, Don Jacobs of Saugus, Ralph Carpinelli and his wife, Carla of Peabody, Jim Carpinelli and his wife, Cecilia of Revere and the grandfather of 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral will be held from the Porcella Funeral Home, 876 Winthrop Ave., REVERE (Beachmont), on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, 133 Beach St., Revere, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives & friends invited.
