Stella M. (Pied) Cote, 97


Salem — Stella M. (Pied) Cote, age 97 of Salem, died at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital, Saturday, December 22, 2012, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Onil Cote, with whom she had shared 49 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Celina (Noury) Pied. A graduate of Ste. Chretienne Academy in Salem, Stella studied hairdressing at a young age and shortly after completing her courses opened her own salon in Salem, which she continued to operate into her early eighties. She was an active member of the North Shore Cosmetologist Assoc.

Stella was always meticulously groomed and ever the lady. She had an easy light laugh and winning personality which accounted, in part, for her long career in hairdressing. She was devoted to her family, her extended family and her many lifelong and newfound friends. A member of Ste. Anne Parish for many years, she was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a member of the League of Catholic Women.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Lorraine Cooper and her husband Richard of Beverly, Jeannine Brown, also of Beverly, 7 grandchildren, Sarah Shinn, Karen Dougherty & Matthew McIntire of North Carolina, Sheryl Roberts of Florida, Christopher Brown of New Hampshire, Emily Cooper of Oregon and Jesse Cooper of Vermont, as well as 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Colette McIntire, her brothers, Rev. Wilfred Pied, Raymond, Emile, Leo & Clarence Pied and a sister Cecile Pied.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A], Salem, on Friday, December 28, 2012, at 8:45 AM to be followed by her funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
