Marblehead — Arthur J. Foye, Jr., age 72, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. Born in Boston, son of the late Arthur J. Foye Sr. and the late Helen B. (Coughlin) Foye, he was raised in Marblehead and was a graduate of Marblehead High School.
Following High School, Mr. Foye attended the University of Miami and then joined the United States Air Force. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis as an air traffic controller. Following his discharge, Mr. Foye returned to Marblehead and became a letter carrier, retiring in 2003 after more than 37 years of service. He was a member of the Elks, Gerry 5, the VFW Post 2005 Marblehead and the American legion. Mr. Foye was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed Golfing. He enjoyed his time in Florida, his daily visits to Dunkin' Donuts, and most especially he enjoyed his family.
Surviving him are his two children, Kerri Basile and her husband Joe and their three children Tyler, Olivia and Ellie, all of Burlington; and Ajay Foye and his girlfriend Mayra of San Jose, CA. He was also the Godfather of Meghann Foye of New York, NY. Mr. Foye was also predeceased by his brother Daniel Foye.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mr. Foye’s Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012, from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor of North St.), Salem, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 80 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
