Peabody, MA — Antonio P. DaRosa, age 82 of Peabody, loving husband for 37 years of Maria (Medieros) DaRosa , died in North Shore Medical Center, Friday following a brief illness.
Born and raised on the Island of Pico in the Azores, he was a hardworking man who grew up learning many local skills including fishing, gardening, farming and making wine. In 1951 Mr DaRosa joined the Portuguese military.
Following his discharge, he moved to the United States and settled in Peabody. For many years he was employed in the local leather industry until retiring from Bobcat Leather. Mr. DaRosa also enjoyed his visits to Paulino’s Farm in Peabody where he helped with the animals.
In addition to his wife, Mr. DaRosa is survived by a two children, Paul Medieros of Vermont and Elizabeth M, DaRosa and her fiancé, Donald M. Masters of Peabody; two sisters Maria Pinhero and Fernanda DaRosa both of the Azores and seven grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., corner of North, Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 12 noon in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
