Dorella (Hebert) Lawrence, 90

Lynn — Mrs. Dorella (Hebert) Lawrence, age 90, formerly of Lynn, died on January 1, 2013, with her family around her.

She was the wife of the late Donald J. Lawrence, a 20- year member of the U.S. Navy who was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He also survived the sinking of his ship the USS Rich DE695 during the invasion of Europe. Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Laura (Melanson) Hebert. She was a graduate of St Jean’s Grammar School and Lynn English High School, Class of 1941. Mrs. Lawrence was employed in the billing office of the former Lynn Hospital, retiring in 1987. She had been employed by the General Electric River Works for eight years and also worked for four years at the Greater Lynn Senior Service, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of the Snow Chasers Ski Club of Lynn, the retired Men and Women’s Club of Lynn, acting as treasurer for many years, and the Tuesday morning Roller Skating hour in Beverly. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association. In her younger days, she enjoyed skiing tremendously. She also loved opera and all forms of music, theater, crossword puzzles, scrapbooking, walking and sewing. She loved traveling, taking trips near and far with her trusty camera. She was a fan of Tom Brady and the NE Patriots.

She leaves four sons, Gary and his wife, Barbara of Rockand, Kevin and his wife, Margee of San Diego, Paul of Peabody and Timothy and Marylyn Mahoney of Gloucester; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; three nieces and a nephew. She was the sister of the late, Geraldine Hebert, Beatrice Connolly and Loretta Manson.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 4, from 4-8 p.m. in the St. Laurent Funeral Home, 554 Western Avenue, Lynn. Funeral will be held Saturday, at 9 a.m., in the St. Laurent Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church, Lynn Street, Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA 01923 or to Leukemia Society, 9 Erie Drive, Suite 101, Natick, MA 01760.
