Eleanor F. Bowden, 90

Danvers — Eleanor Frost (Morse) Bowden, 90, beloved wife of the late Robert P. Bowden, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Ledgewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Beverly.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Alice M. (Hackett) Morse. She graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1940, and continued her education earning a degree from the Massachusetts College of Art, class of 1947. Eleanor had been employed for many years as an art teacher, having worked for the Attleboro Public Schools and at the time of her retirement in 1983, she taught art at Dawson Elementary School in Holden.

A resident of Holden and Beverly, prior to moving to Danvers, she was a member of the Beverly Guild of Artists, a volunteer at the Beverly Public Library and was an active member of the Beverly YMCA. Eleanor had a passion for art, reading, crossword puzzles, and solitaire. She was an accomplished painter and photographer, winning several awards in local art shows. But most of all Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving her are her daughter Marcia Lassar of Beverly; her son Mark E. Bowden of Portland, Ore.; her daughter Patricia Krishnamurthy and her husband Balaji, also of Portland, Ore.; and her daughter Sarah Auger and her husband, John, of Simpsonville, S.C. Eleanor is also survived by her five grandchildren, Nathan Krishnamurthy of New York City, Nicholas Krishnamurthy of Los Angeles, Kevin and Eric Lassar of Beverly and Elisa Auger of Simpsonville, S.C., as well as. many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Webster Morse and Winston Morse.

ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be held at the Church in the Cove, 167 Hale St., Beverly, Friday, January 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. As requested, there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements by the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
