Saugus — Mrs. Frances M. “Francesca” (Santoianni) Mitchell, age 90, of Saugus, passed on peacefully on Tuesday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her loving family. Frances was the wife of Jerome J. Mitchell, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. She was a loving wife, dedicated mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Lynn, she was one of eight sisters; the daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Civiello) Santoianni. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. She had lived in Saugus for the past 69 years. Frances took great pride in her home and her family. She enjoyed cooking and decorating and loved dancing and singing.
She is survived by two daughters; Eleanor “Ellie” Collins and her husband Robert of Topsfield and Michele Mitchell-Corradino and her husband James of Boston; two grandsons, Michael Collins and his wife Mary Jennifer, and Kevin Collins; one great-grandson Michael Collins; two sisters, Ann Bernazzani and Angelina Badger as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters; Rose Ferrini, Nicoletta Santoianni, Eleanor Dragonetti, Phyllis Leo and Gina Santoianni who passed away as an infant.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St. (Rte. 1A), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn, at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
