Peabody — Sheila M. (Benedetto) Tournas, 72, wife of John Tournas of Peabody, died peacefully on Wednesday morning January 29, 2013, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of her family.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Allison and Margaret (Spinelli) Benedetto. She grew up in Lynn where she attended St. Mary’s High School. Mrs. Tournas worked at the jewelry counter of TJ Maxx in Peabody for many years. She enjoyed nurturing her family, was thrilled at finding bargains, and especially cherished time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, John Tournas of Peabody, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; three daughters and their families: Christine and her husband Steven Whitman, their children Zachary and his wife Jennie and their children, Madison and Dexter, Jacob and Rachel and her husband, Private Charles Rumble; Melissa Markus and her children, Samantha DelGreco and John DelGreco and Dylan Markus and his father, Dave Markus; and Diana and her husband, Anthony Albano and their child, Dalayna; also a half-brother, Kenny Noyes and half-sister, Allison Benedetto.
ARRANGEMENTS: Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday, February 4, at 11 a.m. in the Blake Chapel at Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Urn burial in Harmony Grove, Salem.
