Middleton — Mrs. Lois E. (Underwood) LeMay 75, of Middleton, beloved wife of the late George A. LeMay, died Monday, March 24, 2014, in Lawrence General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born in Danvers she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn (Wright) Underwood. Raised and educated in Danvers, Lois was a graduate of the former Holten High School.
Mrs. LeMay had been employed by Unex Laboratories, Danvers in their Quality Control Department for several years. Most recently and prior to her retirement, Lois had been employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
A loving mother and grandmother, Lois cared deeply for her family. Surviving her are two sons, Ronald LeMay and his wife, Linda, of Rowley; Roger LeMay and his wife, Amy, of Middleton; and daughter, Darlene Lavin and her husband, John, of Haverhill; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She also cared deeply for her community and spent many hours volunteering for the American Legion, the Chelsea Soldiers Home, Middleton Council on Aging and for Operation Troop Support of Danvers.
A resident of the town of Middleton for more than 52 years, Lois was a member of the Middleton Congregational Church, a member and past president of the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary, Post 227, Middleton and past president of American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary, District 8.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Route 62), Danvers, Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the family residence, 9 Curtis Ave., Middleton, from 1 p.m. and continuing throughout the day. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
