Peabody — Emelia (Picariello) Norton, age 90, of Peabody, formerly of Swampscott, died Friday April 5, 2013, at Peabody Glen Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Harold Norton and the daughter of the late John and Jennie Picariello.
Born and raised in Swampscott, Emelia was a graduate of Swampscott High School. During World War II, she worked at the General Electric West Lynn Plant. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and keeping her home. She was a former member of the Swampscott Upper Improvement Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Tague of Chelmsford; three grandchildren, Christine Tremblay and her husband, Richard, of Rhode Island, John H. Tague and his wife, Alejandra, of Mississippi, and Meggen A. O’Brien and her partner, Daniel Martel, of Chelmsford; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Pacak of Swampscott; and her two brothers, Lawrence F. Picariello of Swampscott and John A. Picariello of Marblehead; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lena P. Wilson and Antonio J. Picariello.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, on Tuesday at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church in Lynn at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Monday, 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charity of your choice.
