Lynn — John-Patrick Riley, 35, of Lynn, died in his home on Wednesday evening after a short illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of Harvard University Chief of Police Francis D. “Buddy” and Diane (Madsen) Riley of Lynn. He attended Our Lady of the Assumption Grammar School, was a graduate of Austin Preparatory School, Class of 1996 and later attended UMASS Amherst and Harvard University.
John-Patrick worked as an assistant to the Senior Vice President of Corporate and Institutional Services for Eastern Bank in Lynn. He previously worked as an assistant to the Vice President of Alumni Affairs at Harvard University.
John-Patrick was a great kid, very funny, and had a great sense of humor. He was an amazing uncle who loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed going to the family home in Vermont and cutting the lawn there.
In addition to his parents, he leaves his two brothers, Michael F. Riley and his wife, Lorraine, of Weston, Conn., and Matthew A. Riley of Lynn; and his three sisters, Jennifer M. Glass and her husband, Chris, of Peabody, Colleen M. Riley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Caitlin D. Kokonezis and her husband, Nicholas, of Lynn. He was the loving uncle of Chris Jr., Brandon, Jessica, Michael, Devin, William, Makayla and Nicholas. He is also survived by his dog, Maggie, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: John-Patrick’s funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Saint Pius V Church, Lynn at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
