David Richard Davis II, 58

Essex — Mr. David Richard Davis II, 58, of Essex, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born and raised in Gloucester, he was the son of Barbara R. (Veno) Davis of Gloucester and Bradenton, Fla., and the late Arthur M. Davis. He received his education in the Gloucester school system and graduated from Gloucester High School, class of 1972.

Mr. Davis was the proprietor of the Old Yankee Fuel Company in Essex which he started over thirty years ago.

David had a great love for the outdoors, especially traveling to the western states. He enjoyed hunting in New Mexico, Colorado, Montana and Wyoming. An “extreme skier,” he enjoyed his trips to British Columbia and Snowbird, Utah, he was on the first snowmaking team at Killington mountain in Vermont. David also had a love for the ocean where he enjoyed water skiing and captaining his speedboat, the “Yankee Doodle.” Being a motorcycle enthusiast, he loved riding his Harley and was also an avid golfer which encompassed his love for the outdoors.

Most of all, he was a loving and devoted father who brought joy into his children’s lives.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Emily Davis; a son, Colton Davis; and his former wife, Victoria (Mann) Davis, all of Ipswich; a sister, Faye Medina of Gloucester; three brothers, Roy Davis of Bradenton, Fla., Glenn Davis of Gloucester, and Lee Davis and his wife, Maureen of Salem and many nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of David’s life will be held at the First Congregational Church, Essex, Saturday, November 24, at 2 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s honor to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Woodman's Scholarship fund or to the charity of one’s choice. He was the beloved husband of Ann K. Laaff with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. He is also survived by loving daughters, Sarah E. Laaff of Washington, D.C., and Rachel L. Laaff of Denver, Colo.; and by his sister, Friedel Laaff of Barcelona, Spain.

She graduated from Beverly High School in 1977. After graduation, Paula joined the U.S. Army, served for eight years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After her discharge she moved to Stagecoach, Nev., where she lived for 24 years.

    North Reading, MA — Virginia Mary (Boyle) Paul, 88, of North Reading, Mass., passed away August 18, 2014. Virginia was born May 20, 1926, to James and Ethel (Flanders) Boyle in Lynn, Mass., and grew up in Salem, Mass., graduating from Salem High School in 1943. She married Edward Francis Paul of Peabody, Mass., in 1951 and recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. She was a resident of North Reading since 1965 and a part-time resident of Port St. Lucie, Fla., since 2001.

    Brockton, MA — Anne L. (Pasakarnis) O’Donnell, 83, of Brockton, died August 16, 2014, at home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Dr. Terrence P. O’Donnell; daughter of the late Francis and Louise (Sheparauskas) Pasakarnis; and sister of the late John and Albert Pasakarnis. Born and raised in Brockton, she was a 1949 graduate of Brockton High School. She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years, retiring in 1990. After her retirement, she and her beloved husband spent many happy years in California with family. After the passing of her husband, she became a volunteer. She volunteered at both Brockton Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital for many years. Anne was the loving mother of Terrence Jr. and his wife, Meredith, of West Roxbury, Patricia Labrecque of Danvers, Gregory and his wife, Nelia, of Somerset and Susan Allsopp of Brockton; cherished grandmother of Nicole Labrecque and her husband, Nathaniel Blue, Lori Labrecque, Patrick O’Donnell, Alfred Allsopp IV, Caroline O’Donnell, and John Allsopp. Anne’s family would like to express their appreciation to all those who were helpful to their mother during her final days.
