Marblehead — Catherine (Biskas) Vlahos, 102, formerly of Peabody, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 29, 2012, in the Lafayette Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility, Marblehead, following a lengthy illness. Catherine was the loving wife of the late George D. Vlahos with whom she shared 35 years of marriage.
Born in Athens, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Constantinos and Agora Biskas. Catherine and her family immigrated to the United States, settling first in New Hampshire and then Peabody where she met her husband George.
Catherine was a very religious, strong and determined lady who was able to cope with any situation. She had a strong belief in family and believed family should always come first. She passed this ideology on to her sons and ultimately her grandchildren.
Surviving her is a son, James G. Vlahos and his wife, Donna Lee of Salem; five grandchildren, Kristine Vlahos, Jason Vlahos, Scott Sears, Timothy Sears, Lisamarie Sears; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Gagne and Maximus Vlahos. Catherine was also the mother of the late Nicholas G. Vlahos.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends invited.
