PEABODY — Mr. David Spulveda Cruz, 55, of Peabody, beloved husband of Charlene (Smith) Cruz, died Thursday morning at his home, with his loving wife at his side.
Born in Yabuco, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Antonio and Antonia (Spulveda) Cruz. He was raised and educated in Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland United States in 1978, residing in Salem and Peabody.
David had been employed as a landscape laborer having been associated with Brian Stone of Fall Stone Landscaping in Peabody until his illness. Previously he had been employed as a welder with Cost Ladder in Beverly, and he began his professional career with the former Hub Pool of Salem.
David enjoyed life to the fullest and had a passion for Jeeps. He restored them and enjoyed driving them to their limits. He was an avid CB radio user, but his family was always the most important thing in his life.
In addition to his loving wife of 25 years, David is survived by his daughters, Isabella Cruz of Salem and Darlene Cruz of Salem, his son David Cruz Jr. of Salem, six grandchildren and seven brothers and two sisters in Puerto Rico.
